The COVID-19 pandemic changed life as we know it, but after a struggle of 20 months, the world has returned to some form of normality. Now that we’ve had some time to reflect, let us explore what we have learnt from this experience.

Overview

It’s been 20 months since December 2019, when Covid-19 first appeared. While things are better now, we’ve all experienced uncertainty and challenges over these last 20 months. The pandemic has brought about a range of unanticipated changes in the business and community, and we all are now in the world of new normal.

This article seeks to discuss some of the challenges faced by many nonprofits in the Post-Covid world. Such challenges include communicating with donors, using technology in fundraising, and handling current operations in the world of new normal. We need better mental health services

Experts forecast that the post-pandemic time will bring about a rush of psychiatric illness due to the long-term effects of the pandemic. The restrictive measures like social distancing and quarantine, and socio-economic effects which we have experienced due to pandemic. We must focus on various ways to expand the availability of mental health services. Mental health services such as telepsychiatry and other forms of virtual mental health help will be extremely helpful. We need to work on implementing long-term mental health improvement measures to mitigate the impact of economic recession on and address stigma caused due to pandemic.

The digital divide

Digital exclusion is one facet of the urban inequalities which run through the social fabric of many countries today. Digital exclusion is an issue that many communities are facing today due to pandemic. People don’t have access to Home Internet simply because they can’t afford it. People from less affluent backgrounds compared to their wealthier peers are facing significant disparities in their access to technology. The possibility of being left behind due to lack of access to remote working, remote learning which are dependent on an internet connection is high. The digital divide is real and is only going to get bigger if not managed properly.

Humans by nature are social animals

Pandemic and post pandemic times are the difficult times, fear has overwhelmed the thinking of people across the world. The key focus for most of us has been the wellbeing of our loved ones. Based on the situation lots of us opted to work from home. Working from home has made it easier for people to spend more time with their families. However, people who are accustomed to interacting with colleagues and other business settings are finding it difficult to deal with spending so much time at home. People are social animals who need interaction not only with their family members but with others as well around them. As things are improving and we are towards the state of normality, a state of unrest can happen due to the prolonged impact of social distancing, self isolation and remote working. The current situation demands that we as a community learn to empathize with each other which can help us handle this unrest. Instead of reprimanding people for their unusual behavior, we need to treat them with care.
Life is full of surprises and unpredictable turns. It may be sad and difficult to face them, sometimes, but we just have to be grateful and try to find a positive lesson in order to become stronger and wiser. Pandemic has for sure taught us that health and wellness is way above anything else and even if divided we can stand together and work towards the wellbeing of each other.
